SUMMARY:Circe Institute: Virtual College Fair
DESCRIPTION:4 Days. 4 Colleges. 4 Free Sessions.\n\n\nFor high school students and parents! \nEach day\, Monday through Thursday\, CiRCE President Andrew Kern will lead a session on choosing a college\, followed by an address and Q&A with that day’s featured college. \nEvery session will be recorded for those who can not attend live and the colleges will follow up with additional information about applying. \n\n“We’ve spent 18 years giving our son a classical education in our home\, where do we send him?” \n“My daughter is graduating from a classical school\, now what?” \n“How do I find a college that values real education\, that cares about my continued growth and formation?” \nThese are questions we hear from parents and students every year at events\, online\, and in one-on-one conversations around the country. A cursory look at the landscape of higher education can be disheartening. It can seem just as bleak as the state of primary schools that caused so many to seek solace in the recovery of classical education. \nFortunately\, there ARE a growing number of institutions that not only value the experiences classical education has given students at schools\, co-ops\, and kitchen tables across the country and seek to provide opportunities for those students to continue their education. They want to provide opportunities for wrestling with great ideas\, contemplating the Good\, True\, and Beautiful\, and cultivating wisdom and virtue. \nTo help like-minded students and colleges CIRCE is excited to announce The CIRCE Virtual College Fair\, a FREE event to allow parents and students to hear directly from the schools. \nSessions Include:\n\n• Mon\, Nov. 16: Why College?\nFeaturing Grove City College \n• Tues\, Nov. 17: What is a College?\nFeaturing Templeton Honors College \n• Wed\, Nov. 18: How to Research Colleges\nFeaturing Thales College \n• Thurs\, Nov. 19: Do the Old Have Anything to Offer the Young?\nFeaturing The Honors College at Belmont Abbey \n\nTo register\, visit:\nhttps://www.circeinstitute.org/conferences/circe-online-college-fair

SUMMARY:The Most Reluctant Convert: The Untold Story of C.S. Lewis
DESCRIPTION:An elder C.S. Lewis looks back on his remarkable journey from hard-boiled atheist to the most renowned Christian writer of the past century.\nThe Most Reluctant Convert features award-winning actor Max McLean as the older Lewis and Nicholas Ralph – breakout star of PBS Masterpiece’s All Creatures Great and Small – as young Lewis. Beautifully filmed in and around Oxford\, this engaging biopic follows the creator of The Chronicles of Narnia from the tragic death of his mother when he was just nine years old\, through his strained relationship with his father\, to the nightmare of the trenches of World War I to Oxford University\, where friends like J.R.R. Tolkien challenge his unbelief. \nWritten for the screen and directed by two-time Emmy and BAFTA winner Norman Stone (BBC’s Shadowlands)\, The Most Reluctant Convert brings to life the spiritual evolution of one the 20th century’s sharpest minds and keenest wits. \n\n

SUMMARY:Green Country Children's Theatre: "The Lion\, The Witch\, and The Wardrobe"
DESCRIPTION:This dramatization of C.S. Lewis’ classic work faithfully recreates the magic and mystery of Aslan\, the great lion\, his struggle with the White Witch\, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting\, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia. The intense action features chases\, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and to end the reign of Aslan. All the memorable episodes from the story are represented in this exciting dramatization: the temptation of Edmund by the witch\, the slaying of the evil wolf by Peter\, the witnessing of Aslan’s resurrection by Susan and Lucy\, the crowing of the four new rulers of Narnia\, and more. The supporting characters are also here: the unicorn\, the centaur and other forest animals\, along with Father Christmas\, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver and Tumnus the Faun. This story of love\, faith\, courage and giving\, with its triumph of good over evil\, is a true celebration of life. Easily staged\, the play may be presented without intermission or in two short acts if desired.

SUMMARY:Homeschool Oklahoma Capitol Day 2022
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, Homeschool Oklahoma holds Capitol Day\, when homeschooling families from all over Oklahoma travel to the state capitol to visit our legislators. These families share their appreciation for our legislators and their work to protect our freedoms\, and they also may share concerns about any legislation that may infringe upon that freedom. \nIn the Great State of Oklahoma\, homeschooling families are free to teach their children in the way they desire with no interference from the state. Our great state has fewer regulations concerning homeschooling than any other state\, with the ability to educate our children “by other means” built right into the state constitution. Homeschool Oklahoma works to keep homeschooling as free from regulations as possible in our state. You can learn more about the Whys and Hows of Capitol Day in this podcast episode with Kevin Collins\, who runs the Capitol Day Committee \nWe look forward to Capitol Day 2023\, which will be held at the beginning of February. Watch for a save the date closer to time! Please bookmark this page for updates in the next couple of months and watch the HSOK Informer Newsletter and our social media to learn when registration starts! \n
