Stay in whatever lodging you like\, and follow whatever schedule works for your family. You do NOT have to use the exact check-in/out dates listed above. Park tickets will be available to use starting on September 7th\, and your allotted days must be used by September 13th. Make your plans with that in mind\, including your travel dates. (Refunds are not available for unused or expired park days.) \nThis trip is scheduled for right after Labor Day — a time when park crowds are likely to be low. The weather should still be warm enough (average temps: 89° / 74°) to enjoy the Volcano Bay water park. Expect humidity and the occasional rain shower\, and dress accordingly. \nTransportation\nFlying or driving is up to you! Most Orlando hotels will charge for guest parking ($15-25 seems standard). If you fly (and skip the rental car)\, expect to pay up to $35-100 for transportation to/from your lodging\, depending on method\, distance\, family size\, and number of bags. You can arrange motorcoach pickup in advance\, or hail a cab or Uber\, etc. when you arrive. Uber and Lyft are quite popular near the parks and hotels\, and reasonably affordable\, but having 4 or more passengers may increase your wait time. Once you are on the resort\, Universal’s FREE transportation (buses\, water taxis\, etc.) and walking are your best bets for getting around the property. \nLodging\nSince this is not a high demand season\, lodging rates are fairly reasonable. Due to the perks of staying on the property\, you should check out Universal’s onsite resorts first. For example\, Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Dockside Inn and Suites is currently offering rates from $93 per night for our dates! (Rates as of 6/1/22; subject to change and availability.) Other hotels are offering good deals\, and many offer family suites\, too! SUMMARY:Beholding the Bard: Studying Shakespeare for Wisdom and Enjoyment
DESCRIPTION:Samuel Coleridge considered the works of Shakespeare: “an inexhaustible mine… of wisdom and intuition\,” that\, without good instruction\, “must remain for ever a sealed volume\, a deep well without a wheel or a windlass.” \nHow does a modern student converse with the greatest writer in the history of the English language with confidence and skill? \nJoin us for Beholding the Bard\, a half-day workshop designed to introduce Challenge III students to the fine art of studying Shakespeare well. In this discussion-plus-instruction seminar\, Abigail Prescott will lead Challenge III students through an exploration of the virtues of knowing Shakespeare\, while developing practical skills to study the Bard for wisdom and enjoyment — throughout Challenge III and beyond. \nThe workshop will address topics such as: \n\nHow can I study Shakespeare classically and actually enjoy it?\nWhat tools can help me understand Shakespeare — and how do I use them?\nHow do I pick\, prepare\, and present my Dramatic Interpretations?\nHow do I prepare to lead class discussion of a Shakespeare play?\nand much more!\n\nA take-home notebook and pizza lunch will be provided. Upon making the leap to home education\, she continued to nurture a love of theatre in general — and Shakespeare in particular — through local productions\, church drama ministry\, and by being the only teenager to bring The Complete Works of William Shakespeare to church camp. After graduating cum laude from the University of Arkansas with a Drama degree\, she married her college sweetheart\, and worked in non-profit administration before “retiring” to raise three kids\, and become a second-generation homeschool mom. She currently serves as Challenge III Director for Classical Conversations Midtown Tulsa.
