DESCRIPTION:To close the season\, Tulsa Ballet will start a brand-new tradition! Each year Tulsa Ballet commissions a new work created especially for our annual fundraising gala\, Icons and Idols; dances that up to now have been exclusively performed at the gala. Starting in May of 2024\, we will share those special dances with you!  We will start with Roman Holiday\, a work that superstar Italian choreographer Luciano Cannito created for Icons and Idols 2020. The second piece of the program will be Dancing In The Streets by Emmy Award winning Broadway choreographer Joshua Bergasse\, who is also known for his choreography of the TV show Smash. Rounding up the celebratory nature of the program will be the return of Celestial Bodies by Andrew McNicol\, commissioned and created to celebrate Tulsa Ballet’s 65th anniversary.

Our great state has fewer regulations concerning homeschooling than any other state\, with the ability to educate our children “by other means” built right into the state constitution. Homeschool Oklahoma works to keep homeschooling as free from regulations as possible in our state. SUMMARY:Country Cotillion 2024
DESCRIPTION:Full-time homeschool students in the Tulsa Metro area are invited to participate in a cotillion program\, offered by Tulsa Cotillion\, during the 2024 spring semester. \nCountry Cotillion is a class for boys and girls in the 7th through 12th grades\, offering instruction in etiquette\, table manners\, and Country-Western dancing. Tulsa Cotillion’s program consists of five 90-minute class sessions\, plus a final BBQ dinner\, dance\, and party (lasting about 4 hours). \nIn lieu of formal ballroom dances\, Country Cotillion will include instruction in Country-Western dancing\, including: the Two-Step\, the Country Shuffle\, the Country Waltz and Triple-time Swing\, along with 4-5 popular line dances. Students are encouraged to wear jeans and cowboy boots during class sessions. (Completion of the formal cotillion class is NOT a prerequisite to participate in County Cotillion.) \nThe final dinner will be held at Five Oaks Lodge (Jenks\, OK) and include dancing and a BBQ buffet in place of the formal 5-course\, sit-down dinner. Students learn how to serve themselves and pass through buffet lines appropriately. DESCRIPTION:As per tradition\, Tulsa Ballet’s 23|24 Season will open with Creations in Studio K.  This program\, celebrating the emphasis on creativity for our organization\, will be performed in our Studio K theater\, a space built around the purpose of making new works. This year will feature World Premieres by choreographers Penny Saunders and Adam Hougland. Penny\, a native of West Palm Beach\, Florida\, has created works for Pacific Northwest Ballet and Hubbard Street Dance among others. Adam\, whose prior works for Tulsa Ballet include Rite of Spring and Cripple and the Starfish\, has created works for the likes of The Washington Ballet and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in Montreal\, and is a graduate of Julliard School.  We will also see the return of The Sun Sleepscreated by Yury Yanowsky for TBII. Yuri\, a former superstar of Boston Ballet and now Artistic Curator of the Festival Ballet Providence\, has created works for some of the top American ballet companies\, including Boston Ballet and Atlanta Ballet.
